On August 24, 2006, China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC) and National Internet Development Agency of Korea (NIDA) officially signed a contract on mutual-hosting DNS server. The Chair of CNNIC's Steering Committee Madam Hu Qiheng, Chief Engineer of Computer Network Information Center (CNIC) Madam Yan Baoping, CNNIC's Director General Mr. Mao Wei, and Chief Scientist of CNIC Prof. Qian Hualin, along with NIDA's President Dr. Song Kwan-Ho and CTO Mr. Park Chan-Ki were presented at the signing ceremony.
The two organizations are authoritative institutes in Internet development in their country. Signing of the contract keynoted the two parties' first indepth cooperation on DNS operation. According to the contract, CNNIC and NIDA will deploy self owned DNS server to other party's Internet Data Center (IDC), and be responsible for operating the exchanged servers. This is helping each other to construct a better distributed DNS resolution mechanism with higher efficiency and contribute to the world's Internet security and stability.
In this June, CNNIC had deployed and activated 5 new POPs for .CN ccTLD, making the national DNS structure more rational, more efficient and more secured. Deploying DNS server in NIDA's IDC will further improve the capacity, security and stability of .CN domain name resolution.
