On December 23, 2004, the IPv6 address of China's Country Code Top Level Domain (ccTLD) name server was successfully registered in global domain name root server, which marked that the upgraded .CN name server has connected to the IPv6 network and is capable of providing .CN domain name resolution services for IPv6 network users. It also shows that China's DNS has become NGI/IPv6 compatible. Chinese Internet users may use .CN domain names in IPv6 environment.
The enormous resources of the Internet addresses will establish a stable basis for tapping the value of the Internet, facilitating the construction of the state informatization. The IPv6-supportable .CN domain name system will be valuable for pushing forward the deployment, development and penetration of IPv6 based NGI.
